About Us

The project began out of the vision of photographer Greg Dawson and architect Bill Dakin. Their fascination with historical photographs and Texas history led them to organize the project.

Greg Dawson writes, "I have always loved old photographs, the faces tell a story. It began when I was a child, I saw a picture of the crew of the USS Arizona and had to look through every face to find my grandfather. The image stayed with me and I later realized that all the men had stories to tell, just like my father and grandfather."

"We wanted to give everyone a slice of Texas history, before it's gone forever. I grew up in a small Texas town and editing the photographs brought back memories for me, both of people I knew and stories my father told to me as a boy." adds Bill Dakin.
